Things I like on toast.

Peanut candy, Fujian style.
貢糖。雖不是金門的特產,但味道還算可以。

Dried shrimp chilli, made by Mum.
媽媽做的蝦米辣醬,通稱“hae bee hiam”。
Spicy before sweet but never together.

Maeko: That’s good to know. Sounds like it’s been one of those weeks for you, it’s hard to remain optimistic when you’re in the midst of it but always know that it will pass.
Ell: Thank you for sharing. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all way when it comes to life that’s what I believe so I can see where you’re coming from.
if jane and graziella: Thanks, yet to wear them. Maybe the rubber wedge today as it’s looking grey.
wl: I want polar bear, red panda and deer so that would mean 30 new pencils!
jin: I haven’t seen Kork-Ease in London. Got mine over the internet.
A note on: breakfast, food, home, kitchen, kitchen talk, panasonic lumix dmc-g1

Exotic!
Haha ! Pretty much a lifetime’s supply of pencils.
Hello Tommy :)
Now I’m hungry, specially because of the peanut. It isn’t brazillian culture to eat peanut butter, so I miss it a lot :)
At least we have passion fruit jam *_*
Have a nice weekend
What’s the brownish- orange thing on the toasts?? :)
Tommy, I was thinking about what you said about happiness and integrity, and I couldn’t agree more. Integrity is something you can achieve, and therefore search, happiness is a lot more random and unexpected. But you can have both. As a french girl (woman really :( ), I like salted butter on my toasts, and also jam, and cheese (you should try basque sheep cheese and dark red cherry jam, the best ! How conservative is that ?
Just stumbled onto your blog, its absolutely lovely!
it must be a singaporean mum thing, my mum made the dried shrimp thing too!
mmm i think i’d like this too. i love that dried chilli stuff…. (it might have shrimp in it too) on buttered toast with a slice of cheese. it must be our asian childhoods peaking through ;)
Oooh I love dried shrimp chilli too. You eat it with bread?
Aww. The peanut candy brought back memories of an old lady selling it outside people’s park OG in the 80’s. As a kid it was my favourite part of weekend shopping with my aunts and gran.
I like the teddy bear shaped box-and the idea of bringing back the food which is made by mum. Right now I would love to get something like a list of rules about how to be an average person.(ooh sorry, I’m depressed.)
Do you have any suggestions about what to do in London in Christmas’ Eve? where to stay, where to eat?
“hae bee hiam” on buttered toast is always heavenly!
gosh.. i thought i was the only one who got her mother to make hae bee hiam before the flight back! (oh, but the smell of your suitcase and things after 12/13hours… oof)
i have a jar in the freezer right now:)
