Reliving Singapore…

Old things in China Square Central.

Old shops in Chinatown.

Preserved animals.

Ah, I miss this.

Raffles Hotel.

It’s amazing what good branding and the right reference points (Mariage Frères in this case) can do. TWG Tea is a new company but looks like it’s been around for ages. I don’t know how good their tea can be because the pot I had in the store was bitterly over-brewed. But the moroccan mint macaron had a nice flavour.

pochi: Yes, I do remember you, I was wondering who your friend was that appeared on AB’s blog. I will take some of my Japanese books and magazines then. Hope you’ll find something interesting.
Maggie: I used to live in Queen’s Park! It’s my first home when I moved here so I always feel nostalgic when I head there.
July: I might make some green tea biscuits (to give away) if I have time before the sale. Will be nice to meet you properly.
pimienta: I hope to meet Santa Cat when I go to Tokyo this time. It was following around an old lady in Daikanyama.
Clara: I would have done something online but I know I don’t have the time now and wanted to clear some things out before the New Year. Maybe next year?
Yen, Deb and joop: You should come visit me (and Alison) anyway!
read me…: Because… I am bursting out of my flat! Got some external storage space this year but it hasn’t seemed to work out. I have been shopping heavily for the last five years since I moved to London (and before that, in Singapore too) and have accumulated a ridiculous amount of clothes, books and miscellaneous things. For example, the coats I posted the other day are just the tiny tip of the iceberg. I probably have more than 40 pieces of outerwear… More than 100 pairs of shoes… More than 300 books… Countless stacks of magazines… I thought it’s about time to do some editing. Most of the things I still like but I seldom use because they don’t work with my lifestyle. Like small bags. I’m probably never going to take anything that doesn’t fit my cameras.

wow, you have a really good memory. i’ve completely forgotten about that!
when i first saw TWG tea i was really surprised (impressed). their ‘birthday tea’ smells very good.
I love your pictures!
Would love to go to your sale, but I guess it’s impossible. I wonder if you could show some pictures about the clothes you’ll sell?Maybe I could ask a friend of mine to buy me something, but it’s quite risky without knowing what to buy..
oh so sorry that i left it unanswered.
i can’t spell out his name here but the initial is dm. he used to live in QP/KR area but now moved to west london (near heathrow??)
looking forward to seeing you at the sale. :)
I’m not so fond of TWG myself – both the teas and the tea parlours. Have you tried any of the teas from Gryphon Tea Company? Another local brand, and really good.
Have a good time at your sale! Oh, and thanks for the information on the VB coat earlier. I so wish I’ll see something like that… will be OK if it’s priced like APC, probably not OK if priced like Isabel Marant. Wish it were as price-friendly as Barbour.
OK I have to ask, what are the preserved animals for?
I totally agree that TWG moroccan mint macaron is v lovely!! And seriously u take really awesome pictures..love the way u see the world thru your eyes!:)
Yea for Lomo! I think my favourite photos here are the ones of the cans of food and bags of rice, and the ones of the cans of Tea. There’s just something inherently interesting in food packaging… especially food and beverage packed in tin.
I’m excited. I’m thinking of buying a Diana lens for my new toy: the Nikon D70 my husband gave me after he bought a Canon 7D (is that it?? I forget.). Plastic creamy goodness will be mine soon!
