editor: I’m always amused by the giant photograph of English bulldogs near the shoe section. I don’t often see English bulldogs here in London at all.
Jac, deb and John: The book has Japanese and English versions on facing pages. Yes, in the same book! Perhaps it’s clearer here. The coloured page is in Japanese and the other is in English. I do think you can get more out of it if you know a little Japanese (I’m probably JLPT 3 or below) but you won’t enjoy it any less even if you don’t because the English translations are quite thorough.
hiki: Yes, I especially love the classic and traditional Japanese elements in all the backgrounds. And the activities!
sara and Bardotty: The traditional Japanese months are very poetic. Here you can see them. I’m born in satsuki, which seems to be about rice and farming. My favourite is minatsuki.
Z: The Diana F+ is a very, very basic camera made out of plastic. Some people would call it a toy. It uses medium-format film. There are no USD cords or anything like that. I get my film developed in a shop on to a CD so it’s convenient to upload the photos.
pimienta: You’re right. Ochibi-san is rather mature. A mature but child-like way of looking at things…
July: I’ve not been to Umu. It’ll be on the list now. I went to Saki last night. Will like to go back to try shojin ryori (the Buddhist vegetarian style) but that has to be ordered in advance. Let’s go to Jin Kichi in January, that will be nice. I am glad you are enjoying the Jessica Ogden top. I still like a lot of the things I was selling but somehow I don’t wear them anymore so it’s nice to know they go to someone who appreciates them better.
Ell: V V Rouleaux, that I linked to in the ribbon post, is a favourite shop. I’m not sure if it’s so easy to order online though because they don’t have the greatest pictures. Swine flu – is that what you have or is it just regular flu? My partner thought that he had it when there was the first outbreak but I didn’t catch anything from him. Maybe it’s not you but the vaccination. Some will see it as a bit irresponsible but I don’t particularly believe in vaccination. You’ve heard about the conflicting research on the H1N1 drug, Tamiflu, right? Ultimately branded medicine is a product and like any other products, there will be some shit out there that do not do what they claim to do. But we’ve been so conditioned to trust products with made-up scientific-sounding names that come from people in white lab coats.

Absolutely love the first photo.
i love your lomo sets, evry times! do you know this Diana kit for digital camera?
oops, i forgot the link for the diana kit:

My doctor says it is swine flu though it might be the vaccination (hope so.or not-I hate myself if the vaccination causes that-especially if otherwise I would not have any problem..) but I talked to a quite well-known doctor, my shrink, my own doctor and they suggested the vaccination..not sure though. hm, so far I guess the swine flu seems to be painful-definitely questionable medication.(let’s say I have to take vitamine C pills.)
hm, I made a very nice oxoron.
erm, oximoron. sorry for the amount of comments..
nice.
Saki is always good, in particular the green tea tiramisu. I would drive across London for it. I’m going to be in France from the 23rd to the 10th of January and I know that I will find it unbearable not to have good Japanese food. When do you come back from Japan? I’ll book Jin Kichi for us.
Hey Tommy,
Thanks so much for your info. I will get them today at Kino (Yipee, they are having 20% discount for memebers..nice…) Also, what camera did you use for the above pics (btw, I am a nerd when it comes to camera, but I really wants to start taking pictures of places)? Or what would you recommend for a start?
Thanks alot! ;D
Love the flowers. I think one can take any pictures of flowers or trees and make me happy. I’m using the Holga from Lomography. I was wondering (except for the format of course) if there was any difference with the Diana. As you were talking about that. I so like you blog also because you’re using different types of cameras. I can relate to that :)
they had one bulldog statue in the window that was fairly irresistible, i have to say.
the colors in the Fortnum & Mason room are beautiful.
Love your lomo shots!
I miss London.
