And They Said, “It’s Not Really the Nice Kind of Snow, Is It?”

Monday December 21, 2009

Perhaps so. A hazard too, even with sensible shoes on.

But it’s a London kind of snow. Not perfect but still lovable.

Anyway it did turn into proper snow later in the day.

Tom Gao (via contact form): No problem for checking in but I’m not planning to sell the Townsend.

Grace: What will you be reading in Oxford? It looks like a nice place to study in but I will definitely plan escapes to London whenever I can.

malin: Thank you for the feedback on the layout. This is only temporary but I don’t think I will have time to finish it before January.

graziella: No waking up to a white London. London seems to want to turn white only when it’s dark and back to grey when I wake up.

I like seeing the pictures bigger. London seems to be getting more snow, we mostly have black ice and slush at the moment.

  2. lovely pictures as usual Tommy, London doesn’t often get snow like this, especially so close to Christmas! I think my favourite pic has to be the little snow creature. Is that a snow rat?

Hi, haven’t spoken in a while! Work has been mental so my blog-reading time has seriously diminished. I see your photos are getting better and better as always. The snow looks so romantic in your photos, in SW it’s all slushy and pathetic looking.

ah, good, we’re all getting snow. ny had really great snow this weekend – pity so much of it came down at night while we were sleeping; watching it fall is half the fun.
i went to takashimaya pre-snow and the exact jacket i was thinking of was no longer there. i did see a similar one and the tag said Carter – Shibori (this is re. our exchange about dries van noten-esque pieces i’ve seen).

    hello,
a london girl living in vancouver since august….following your pictures now and again quite regular…
these photos are so nostalgic and express some kind of apex in feeling…perhaps its the approaching end of a long age containing smaller cycles.your singapore photos were of a different substance, much quicker and lighter….but these are fab.they speak in a direct and whole way about the atmosphere, the is-ness,the suspense and pathos of a snowy london just before Christmas.cheers for these and wishing you and your people a peaceful holiday!!!

So different from New York. I’ve been taking black and white pictures of the park these past 2 days and posted them. Still cities and snow, I love it. (we also have some ugly brown puddles, etc…) Love your photos as always. What am I doing commenting when I’m swamped with work? Anyway have a nice and safe trip to Tokyo! And a wonderful Christmas!

It’s lovely! Soft and subtle. We had our first storm here in NYC and it was a magical wonderland for the first day. . .then it turned gray and into mush.

Haha, well I guess you can tell a ginger is old from its errr, wrinkled appearance? Let me know when you’ve tried the drink. I just know it’ll warm you up – the way gingers always do! =)
