Let’s Go To Tokyo #19

外苑前 Gaienmae – 銀座 Ginza – 六本木 Roppongi – 表参道 Omotesando – 渋谷 Shibuya

Latte art at Dean & Deluca.

Honey nut roll; tomato and basil sandwich.

Rabbits! Skins! In Tokyu Hands.

ginza

Not sure what is going on but there is a promotion at the Sony Building involving Asahiyama Zoo.

I was a little agitated to have missed a tempura restaurant, the main purrpose of visiting Ginza, because most places have closed for the New Year break.

ginza

But I chanced upon a Chinese tea-house. It’s a sign.

ginza

ginza

Yu Aoi likes the shaved ice dessert here.

ginza

It almost feels like being invited to a friend’s home and being offered some home-cooking…

ginza

…and a cup of tea.

ginza

I left calm and happy again.

ginza

Bunney jewellery in F.I.L.

ginza

Visiting F.I.L. is exciting not only because of the products but also to see what new floral arrangements adorn the space.

ginza

Finally made it to d’UNE rArETé.

Beautiful dresses.

I’m always at a loss when it comes to eating in Shibuya. But I saw a familiar name, Soup Curry Shanti. Chieko took us to the one in Harajuku last year.

viv: She’s a funny girl, so many expressions.

tasha, hoyan, yuko, jennifer, cocopuff1212, J. and lucie: Ikebana everywhere, wearing the same yukata as the other guests, soaking in hot baths, wonderful food… the experience at GORAKADAN was not only relaxing (in a systematic way) but also very inspiring because one is surrounded by beauty all the time.

wl: Very good pops! I don’t usually like ikura but I finished every single one of the balls.

Ell: Traditional Japanese and Chinese style of umbrellas are made of paper. They are not commonly used nowadays. At its most basic levels, a Japanese breakfast is rice, pickles and miso soup. Typical additions are grilled fish, egg, natto or nori. The version at GORAKADAN has lots of extras!

Arctic Mum: The restaurant that inspired Kill Bill is Gonpachi in Tokyo. Looks pretty amazing in the photos.

read me…, if jane and Kiki: Hoping you’ll enjoy the very last few days of Tokyo. Happy new year!

Jamie: Happy almost, almost new year! Flowers in the bowl, the yellow ones? It’s an arrangement, of orchids I think, in the lobby. I have a list of places to visit in Tokyo but didn’t achieve very much, going where is convenient and also taking into account my partner’s schedule. We didn’t book the onsen so I’m not sure of the price. Vegetarians are catered for, not a problem even if it’s short notice.

may: I can imagine, those brushes are so stiff. Vietnam photos look amazing!

Dulcie: What are some places you recommend in Dalston and Stoke Newington? They’re not really on my radar as I don’t use the bus so much but will like to visit.

Grace: I used to live with someone from Chengdu. As for journalism, I guess it is regarded as one of the more “serious” pursuits within the communications program.

pochi: I’m going to try to find a soba place. A lot of the traditional restaurants I want to visit have closed though. Happy new year!
