Snow at night.

Striped snow.

Snow on my lens.

Snow and me.

Snow and steps.

Snow and twigs.

Snow on bald tree.

Snow on steps.

Snow on bushes.

Snow on fence.

Ankle-deep snow.

Melting snow and grit.

STEFANIE, graziella: Maybe you can try it with apples and blanched almonds. Not the same medicinal properties but may be tasty.
Bria: Hello Bria, happy new year to you too! Hope you’ve been keeping well.
pimienta: I like how the recent posts are represented by images on 101 Cookbooks. I installed a “related posts” function once. The articles were represented by their titles and made the site look messy so I removed it. I will investigate the image function.
editor and Sneaky Magpie: The apple soup is sweet and tangy at the same time and could possibly taken as a form of dessert sometimes. It soothed my cough for a bit but I didn’t make enough to keep for a few days. editor, glad to know the map prevented some domestic unrest! I will work on the other Google maps (and updating the guides)!
viv: TCM works well for me. I often use “classic formula” pills such as yin qiao for common ailments so as to avoid using the NHS.
Mariko, Lees, Kata, Gabriela, chary, genevieve, Mariana, fawn lust, heidi + jin, Jillian, anni, Lisa and Marina: Thank you for your suggestions! I have noted them down. Good luck!
yz: Chinese is poetic and it is difficult to express in English the same nuances. I only blame my laziness for not writing more bilingual or trilingual posts.
Amy, Abigail and Carole: I generally use Chinese and Japanese books for TCM and recipes. For an English language book, I really like Paul Pitchford’s Healing with Whole Foods. It helped me understand a lot of concepts that were rather confusing previously. TCM as a topic is very extensive and I am still learning about it. Another book I like is A Spoonful of Ginger by Nina Simonds. A good range of recipes incorporating TCM principles but with ingredients that are not too tricky to find.
Rachel: Work permits can only be applied by the employer who may be reluctant to do so because they have the EU work pool who want to work in the UK to choose from as well. But it all depends on the industry. I came on a Working Holiday visa and I probably didn’t think that much because I was young and impulsive!
lucie, kate and Jaime: Thank you!
TiTi: I hope you’ll enjoy London when you’re here. It is rather cold at the moment so come prepared!
jessica: Thank you! I’ll look for this book. It sounds really good.
netedu: Sorry the “replies” format is a bit confusing. How it works is I reply to all comments I receive in between this and the last recent post. Perhaps you’ll see what I mean now that you have posted a comment and I have replied it. I thought this is the easiest way for the comment poster to see a reply.
Mausumi: Tokyo is great for the daily essentials that you don’t think so much about because you would assume there are not many choices anyway. But in Tokyo, you can make an aesthetic choice.
July: Journal de Luxe is on my list for my trip later this month! I checked almost all the Journal Luxe stores in Tokyo, came away with the brown cardigan. The Paris store looks amazing in pictures. I am looking forward to seeing your choices.
Yvonne: I have some of the remedies from Eu Yan Sang. No excuses not to try some, they’re so easy with the pre-packs!
Jamie: How long did you take to recover from yours? My doctor said something about developing into “chest infection” today and I don’t really like the sound of that because I have to go to Paris for work soon. I think I’m going out too much in the cold. As for Berlin, I really like the concept of Manufactum (I went to the one in Munich though) and I think you may enjoy the markets if you are there on Sunday. Maybe Prenzlauer Berg, a gentrified bohemian neighborhood?
Brian: I’m glad you think so (solar terms and photo).
sianz: We have yz to thank for the Zaobao article! And don’t worry about the postage. I purposely chose items that will be relatively light to send.
[z:six]: Perhaps Thai producers? I know they export to Japan.
minny: I don’t do the market stall anymore but when I used to do it, Alison was a part too. I am trying to cook more often at home though so you’ll probably see pictures of my meals.
Carolina: I’ve not been to Malaysia. My paternal grandfather is from Penang. Maybe I’ll visit at some point. Do you remember anything about Malaysia at all? It must be difficult if you left at 3.
Sophie Peters: I think the shoes will be stocked at the Covent Garden and Spitalfields stores soon (after the sale season). You should be able to buy them off the official websites as well. Perhaps late January – February?
LaLa (via contact form): Hope so! I have some guidebooks on Shanghai already. Beijing too!
A note on: lomo days, lomo lc-a, london, me, nature, snow, weather

So pretty! Especially “snow on bushes.” I’ve never seen a really white blanket of snow anywhere (Los Angeles does that to you – too bad). Do you guys get stuck with shoveling duty in the driveway?
Lovely pictures. I think this winter has been pretty brutal so far, but you make it look kind of nice.

beautiful~ we love these photos, we’re so yearning for snow
That IS indeed snow quite everywhere. The first photo is my favourite. Personally I’ve had quite enough of snow and more than enough of -25C.
snow! does this mean you’re on the mend?
thank you (re. the maps – a few months yet before i start to panic).
sore throats and cough – alpenliebe if you can get your hands on any, and honees (milk&honey) are the closest things to lozenges that i can truly endorse.
feel better.
Snow on bushes I like best of all. It all looks so magically surreal to me today… thank you.
i love the picture of u and the snow!
snow on the fence, my favourite one!
love this lomo days :)
You will love the boutique!
It’s beautiful and the Japanese woman who runs it is delightful. She’s been in Paris for 25 years and has some interesting stories to tell.
Completely unrelated but don’t you think that Laduree should start making green tea macaroons?
hello !
As a lomographer I love your shots. Especially the first one. Could you tell me by the way what film you use ?
Have a nice day Tommy !
we have a very pretty city at the moment eh.
i love the shot of the wellies and stripes.
lovely photos- i really need to get that lomography camera i’ve been craving about! :)
The red pillar boxes and phone boxes really come into their own in the snow : )
Ours is really deep here, it is up to my knee on my road, more on the way later today too I hear.
I love it when the snow settles in London and the whole town takes on that Mary Poppins sort of vibe. And just to kep you updated, there is snow at the Tower now, and St Katharine’s Dock has even frozen over. It’s the first time I’ve seen this!
Great pictures as always Tommy. Bet you’re pleased to be back in England!!

Cool snow. thanks for the tips !
Mmmh the smell of snow… Seems so exotic to me these days* Merci!
you look cold! snow on tree is an intriguing angle. only ankle deep? the way the media has beencovering the weather, i thought london would have had 12″ at least.
Lovely note! This one feels just like being there. :)
I love the snow too. aren’t you freezing in your Hunter wellies? I wore mine yesterday and got completely frozen toes in 10 minutes – If you have some kind of perfectly warm socks/footwarmers for them please divulge!x
my hunters have saved my life in oxford! especially with the wellie socks! my housemates and i went grocery shopping at the co-op and i saw oatcakes and thought of you and your blog. naturally, i bought them. i still haven’t tried them yet, though. i was thinking about having them with nutella in the morning.
lovely photos!
love your wellies. I could do with a bit of snow. its getting too hot here!
Delectable recipe! :-). I like studying this site. Where did you download this lovely blog design from? Salutations from barcelona.
This makes me so happy, Tommy! I love the photo of you and Mr. Postbox. The vignetting is wonderfully soft focus and then you and the pop of red are so clear. It’s a great portrait.
