Captain Ferry, she dictates the way the wind blows around here.
She’s fallen asleep on me, wrapped up in a towel, as I’m writing this. She’s making little squeaks and stirs from time to time; it’s terribly sweet. As much as I love having her around, I’m also looking forward to her being well enough to go to a new home. Hopefully a family that will let her stick around this time, for as long as she goes.
She can be such a terror at times: when she is being territorial or when I’m not giving her what she wants because I have no idea what she wants. The constant cleaning wears me out too. I’ve had to sacrifice time I should have spent on a project I planned to launch this summer.
But when I see her learn from a new experience or improve with the physiotherapy and diet I’m giving her, I quickly forget the weariness and forgive her for the bites.
Having a pet is just not on my agenda at this point in time, I simply do not want to be responsible for another being’s life. So Ferry, if there’s only one thing I wish you can understand: please, get well soon.
A note on: a polaroid a day, animal, ferret, polaroid sx-70

Ah! She should wear a little cap, she could play in Fantasy Island :)
Ferry was blessed that she was found by a caring, loving person who was willing to take on nursing her back to health, and now whomever she goes on to live with will be very lucky to have her as a part of their lives.
I’m thinking ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and i’m thinking Anne Marie McDuff to provide the voice for Ferry’s character.
so cute.
You’re so kind to take Ferry in! Yeah, a pet is time-consuming. That’s why I only admire them from far. Haha!
How’s the weather in London these days?
She looks like she about to jump!
I hope Ferry knows how lucky she is! You surely have some good karma coming your way.
I empathize with you on this one. You have a good heart Tommy. Here’s to hoping she gets better soon!
Having a pet is truly like having a child in many ways… and it’s time consuming and emotionally draining as much as it is rewarding.
However, if you are not one to keep pets, then it is even more of a sacrifice when the time is spent.
Seeing her journey through recovery through your lenses is a beautiful thing. You have done so many heroic things with her. I hope Ferry gets well soon, too! So that she can be with a family who will take care of her.
Oh, I understand completely – I live at my parents house once again where my sister has her own ferret – Zissou – but she doesn’t live here. So I’m usually the one caring for him. And he’s adorable, to be sure, but lots and lots of work – mostly concerning the bathroom department, which wouldn’t be a problem if we left him in his cage all day. But how can you? He’s a bundle of adorable, and when he looks at you with that face and cocks his head sideways, you can’t help but cuddle with him :)
(I’ve been quietly following your blog for a little while now, and I’m so happy to see Ferry’s progressing a bit! I’m sending great vibes to her – oh, and by the way, she is much more beautiful than Zissou, you’ve got a seriously gorgeous ferret by ferret standards on your hands!)
