8:56 a.m. This is how I feel when I wake up ion a day with weather like today. Oh happy birthday, Singapore! I wish I was back in your sunny arms.

11:21 a.m. Walking to Alison’s.

11:40 a.m. A quick refuel.

11:51 a.m. Our big bags with bags within bags.

12:01 p.m. I’ve been lamenting that I can’t wear the patterned enamel bracelets from Hermès. They only come in two sizes and the smaller one slips right off. I keep going back to the store to pester the staff and try the bracelets on. For now, I just have to be satisfied with this leather loop.

12:20 p.m. Here we are at destination one: Borough Market.

12:22 p.m. I headed straight to De Gustibus for Sunday’s loaf. They make some of my favourite unusually flavoured breads. Today I picked a crusty white flecked with cornmeal.

12:24 p.m. Empanadas from Argentina! I had to try one since I’ve been seeing them around so much on the Internet. Unfortunately they are served fridge cold.

12:37 p.m. Alison and her coffee.

12:38 p.m. We were amused by this affectionate puppy while waiting for our food.

12:55 p.m. Fish, chips, mushy peas and rain. A very English Saturday.

1:11 p.m. Black clustery jewels.

1:36 p.m. White luminous jewels.

1:45 p.m. Hoot!

2:04 p.m. Did you know that Shipp’s Tearooms is shutting? Sad, I didn’t even have the chance to have a cup of tea in there yet but I managed to pick up a few pieces of Johnson Bros Greydawn china.

2:58 p.m. On Oxford Street, I replaced the umbrella I lost last Sunday.

4:02 p.m. Elephants from St. James’s Park have migrated to Selfridges. They have also acquired some fancy designer quilts as a result.

4:30 p.m. Winter coat options, both from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel.

6:50 p.m. Dinner on a floating restaurant in Regent’s Park with AB, Chiara and Odhran.

7:53 p.m. Done.

enc: It’s got quite a menacing stare too.
joyce: Always nice to imagine…
joop: I’m so envious of your Bali getaway…
Sarah: I sometimes wish that I’m back in school, I seem to have more time!
yz: I find it difficult to read on the computer. It’s too straining on the eye!
lucas: I saw some pictures of the opening ceremony. Haven’t really followed the events. I’m not a big sports fan actually. I think modern skyscrapers can be as interesting as old buildings, I’m learning to appreciate them all. I’m used to modern buildings too because I grew up in Singapore.
Louie: Yes, Palmers had to move from the grand old store to the smaller new one, perhaps sometime around 2006 (but I think they stopped selling monkeys a long time ago). The old store is in a protected building, I added a link so you can read more about it.
xymon: Cute idea but I hate royal icing unfortunately.

i will try to make it to the borough market instead..and go for a picnic in a park :)
those owls are so sweet!
what’s that luminous berries/grapes look-alike? Like that APC dress you got! That was one of the pieces which i wished i had gotten! How nice you are able to wear winter coats – a never-come-true in sunny Singapore.
The berries and grapes look absolutely luscious and juicy. Did you buy any? The coats are lovely too; I am partial to the one you were wearing – edgier with military influences.
ahhh! those owls are cute! did you taste one? just wondering what owl would taste like… i like spicy food, but somehow, if it is too spicy, it will upset my stomach. Is food in Singapore generally spicy?
