Friends in the Northern Hemisphere, if you’re still enjoying the last days of summer, good for you. Seems like us Londoners are getting a preview of winter this week. Look at today’s sky at 8:00 a.m., morning skies shouldn’t look be like this. I couldn’t capture the wind in the photo, but trust me, it was strong. On top of the letdown that is the British summer, we have to wait until end of September to see Ratatouille.

My meals, though, are still all about light and breezy summer eating. These sandwiches are made with spelt bread, leftover pesto from the weekend, thickly sliced tomatoes and lots and lots of black pepper. These little towers, some boiled sugar snap peas and fresh leaves will make our lunch today. Will it make me feel better? I don’t know. A summer lunch in the basement doesn’t quite work out, but I guess it will have to do for now.

tsilli: Ah really? There is a shop that is going to be stocking Hyde S.K bags…
deborah: I saw some hedgehogs (finally) when I was last in the countryside. They were playing by the roadside and a cat was watching them, very worrying.
xymon: They are, aren’t they?

we will be waiting until september for the rat movie too! and we’ve had the last of winter showers over here in sydney… but its one of those good things because australia is in a drought at the moment.
Ah, that sandwich of yours looks super tasty… even if the skies are not behaving as they ought.
see you, g
Tommy, did you make the spelt bread or buy it (if former, how; if latter, where)?
