One of the first elements that attracted me to this film is the clothing. I’ve always liked the padded jacket so this shot made me very happy.

There is a lot of running involved in this film for Zhang Ziyi’s character, Zhao Di.

It doesn’t look easy in her outfit.

Plop.

Seasons.

The windows at school have to be fixed.

How sweet.

And of course, cooking.

Spring onion pancakes!

The journey of a blue-white bowl.

And last, the light, beautiful light.

Beautiful. I love those padded jackets, and have always wanted one to wear as well. Can I ask how you get these screengrabs from the movie?
This film is one of my favorites films : the colored jackets are beautiful ! My parents have a similar bowl, with the “staples”.
First comment on this blog… I really like the photos !
(Sorry for my bad English…)
those felt booties are so good!
the hubbyo just informed me we’re going
to a secret case study shelf sale on saturday,
so the bookcase maybe shelved for now.
sorry…couldn’t help myself :)
thanks for sharing these. now i’m very curious about the film.
Being able to understand English, Mandarin, and Jpanese is totally wonderful!!! You are a master! I wish I could understand what they’re saying in so many Chinese films I love!
August is a good time for wandering the streets and visiting the gardens. There are many of them that you don’t notice when it’s crowded. I like taking pictures of empty places. August in Paris is about taking your time. When I was living there I would never leave the city in August as it was the only slow time. I’m a contemplative woman who likes big cities. Go figure.
i haven’t watched 我的父亲母亲 before… i think i should.
Funny to think about the movies she’s made since then…
Thanks again for meeting up with us in England! My computer stopped recognizing my camera so I need to get a card reader for the photos.
a very lovely movie indeed…
so beautiful. i love the story of the blue and white bowls. and you are so very lucky to have chines, japanese and english at your fingertips:) and i really, really, love your lo-fi guides, such a wonderful way to show a city.
These pics are great. I have not seen this film but will definitely put it on my list. Thank you for posting this.
