Today, thoughts of a seaside town escape.

Replies
Emily: Thank you and here are two more for today. I have some to add to New York, London and Portland too.
Priscilla and The Storialist: I met a very old black pug too who had spots of grey hair but didn’t manage to grab a photo.
joanna: They are made by a Swedish brand, Expert, for A.P.C. Madras.
sopchan: Marshmallow frosting! I don’t think Violet’s cakes are too sweet in general. The cupcakes are coloured naturally with fruit purees and such.
Bardotty: I didn’t notice the chandelier while I was taking the picture. I was trying to be quick since I was in a shop. Thank you for pointing that out! The puffs at Pearl Liang are filled with roast pork (char siew), the classic filling for this particular pastry. Yauatcha and Hakkasan have “up-spec” versions filled with venison but cooked in a similar way to the traditional pork.
read me…: That dog must be a market regular! I bought a salted caramel too but didn’t get to eat it as Andrew had all of the cakes.
anni: I really do think a vintage source is your best bet because of the cut of Margot Tenenbaum’s coat. Perhaps you could clarify with the seller if it is fake fur? I don’t think they will list real fur as fake since real fur would probably fetch a higher price? I will keep a look out in the shops for you though.
Tamami: Is there a theme to the animals you are collecting? I always think that it is a very English thing to have animals all over the mantelpiece. I’m going to do that when I have one in my home. And I will try to visit the market more often, I like the atmosphere!
editor: Snap snap on SO-EN and Liniere. I wonder if I should start buying SO-EN regularly. I’m also flitting in and out of Spoon. Thank you for checking on the jackets (in advance)!
jing: I am curious but not sure if I’ll like marshmallow fluff. I usually only like marshmallow if they are toasted. Is it very sweet?
Joanne (via contact form): I don’t mind my pictures being used as long as they are credited and not “inline linked” to my site. But I couldn’t find the credit on your blog until I looked hard as there were no indications near the pictures. Also not sure why the credit link goes to my Twitter account. I’d prefer it to link to the blog where the pictures are. Thank you!
Sabine (via contact form): Thank you for the message and I’ll keep checking your blog for updates.
